As 2015 is quickly approaching, now is the time to reflect on your home-based business and recognize your progress. Think about the success you have accomplished through your sales and perhaps some of the complementary trips you have earned as a result and give yourself a pat on the back. While you should reminisce on your accomplishments throughout the year, it is also important to think about your failures. Sounds harsh, right? However, this is the time where we can reflect on our mistakes and think about what didn’t work and then think of ways to improve these strategies. This is what we like to call “New Year’s Resolutions.” This allows us to set goals and move forward in the direct sales industry. Here is a list of great New Year’s Resolutions that should be on every direct seller’s list:
1. Be consistent on social media when promoting your business. It’s almost 2015. Almost everyone uses social media. Make yourself visible and create great content that will drive people to be interested in your product/services.
2. Network, network, network. Be social and develop new relationships, while rekindling old ones. There are so many ways to do this, whether it’s accepting an event invitation on Facebook, texting an old friend, or going to several events. It is important to meet new people and make friendships because this could potentially lead to customers.
3. Manage your time and don’t make excuses. We all have a lot on our plate, whether it’s working two jobs, supporting a family, volunteering for various organizations, etc. However, if you are passionate about building your home-based business, it is important to make a list of tasks and check things off as you go. Don’t make excuses as to why you can’t get something done today because you are just prolonging your list of tasks to do tomorrow. You will feel accomplished at the end of the day knowing you were able to complete everything on your to-do list.
4. Don’t get discouraged if a customer says “no.” In the direct selling industry, it is not uncommon to often get this answer when pitching your product/services. Take notes of what could have been improved and try again. No successful direct seller made it to the top without hearing “no” several times. Keep trying and don’t give up. I promise you will get there.
