See the Good, Anyway

I recently read the following poem titled “Anyway”, author unknown, and it was a good reminder to keep doing what is right.  It is no surprise to me that it was found in Mother Teresa’s office.  She was an amazing lady.  My dad taught me, through his example, to see the good in people. It is true that at times by doing that, you will get hurt, yet the positive far outweighs that hurt.  I would rather live my life seeing the best in people because most of the time you get what you expect from others.
Enjoy the poem!
People are unreasonable, illogical, self-centered…
Love them anyway.
If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives…
Do good anyway.
If you are successful, you win false friends and true enemies…
Be successful anyway.
The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow…
Do good anyway.
Honesty and frankness will make you vulnerable…
Be honest and frank anyway.
People love underdogs but follow top dogs…
Follow some underdogs anyway.
What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight…
Build anyway.
People really need help, but attack you if you try to help…
Help them anyway.
Give the world the best you have… you may get kicked in the teeth,
But give the world the best you have anyway.
You see, in the final analysis, it’s between you and God.
It was never between you and them anyway.
(Anonymous: found in Mother Theresa’s Calcutta office)
See good in people, sometimes you will get hurt. But see the good anyway.
